I actually like looking at a picture and draw the exact same thing, but sometimes I look at many pictures of a character to memorize all details, so then I'll be able to draw him in any way/pose I want

haha, you don't have an option that says "YES ALL THE TIME"
The only time I don't use references is when I'm doodling.

Its amazing how my art style changes and better it looks when I use references on the side ; 7 ;... Trying to break my habit by using references as much as possible.

I should be using references for everything I draw. I know that will help me grow as an artist. But I get lazy.

I only resort to refs when there is a pose that I can't draw from memory. But for practice and even for the actual artworks, I need to grow accustomed to constantly using refs. No excuses LOL X3

It's not just for realism or difficult objects, reference also makes your work more recognizable! After taking art classes, I've been conditioned to use references for anything I create, and I feel like my drawings are better because of it. Also, getting feedback from your peers at every step of the process can greatly influence the quality of the outcome.

It really depends on the type of work. I have issues with realistic anatomy, so when I have to draw realistic looking people, I generally will use references. When given a job in a style I'm not used to, I will also often look for material in that particular style to give me an idea of what is involved.
